In an ABSOLUT World according to Mexico
Posted Friday, April 04, 2008, 5:26:34 PM
The In An Absolut World advertising campaign invites consumers to visualize a world that appeals to them -- one they feel may be more idealized or one that may be a bit "fantastic." As such, the campaign will elicit varying opinions and points of view. We have a variety of executions running in countries worldwide, and each is germane to that country and that population.
This particular ad, which ran in Mexico, was based upon historical perspectives and was created with a Mexican sensibility. In no way was this meant to offend or disparage, nor does it advocate an altering of borders, nor does it lend support to any anti-American sentiment, nor does it reflect immigration issues. Instead, it hearkens to a time which the population of Mexico may feel was more ideal.
As a global company, we recognize that people in different parts of the world may lend different perspectives or interpret our ads in a different way than was intended in that market. Obviously, this ad was run in Mexico, and not the US -- that ad might have been very different.

WEll, well, "John de México," when someone posts in a foreign language, there are bound to be misunderstandings. Although you "just have to" be so unjustifiably and personally insulting, I will not bother to respond other than to say: Let me ALSO POINT OUT that indeed this person DID agree to NOT SUPPORT ABSOLUT.
Your anti-American prattling however, DOES fit right in with Absolut's offensive ad campaign. To hell with Absolut, to hell with TBWA (and it's bigotted "disruption" philosophy), and to hell with pseudo know-it-alls like you.

American collegue (its OBVIOUS you are AMERICAN): Mezcal is a kind of alcoholic drink, period. It´s not always everything against you, nobody insulted you; the only one insulting was you. In fact, Xicóatl was in yuor side, promoting another kind of drink, no Absolut. In other themes, if you really really think that Absolut should be boycotted for this funny ad, you should also boycott TBWA (TBWA is one of the top ten US-based agency networks made up of 258 full service agencies around the world) ( http://www.tbwa.com/index.php/disruptiveideas/1;2 ) who is the "intellectual author" of this ad, and please boycott also all the TV programs, movies and publications of Time Warner (Time Inc. is the largest magazine publisher in the U.S. and U.K. ) ( Time Warner Cable Inc. is the second-largest cable operator in the US ) (http://www.timewarner.com/corp/businesses/detail/time_inc/index.html) who is the owner of the media that published the ad. Have you noticed that they are AMERICAN????. You´ll never "get it right" , I guess. Let the market talk. Long live Absolut ( with or without U.S.)

Vegas, I am NOT your friend, nor are you mine. Aside from random vitriol and the spelling mistakes you lay out there for all to see, you provide readers nothing to read!
The arrogant non-apology above represents a confirmation of the offensiveness of Absolut's ad.
Boycott Absolut!
