Less work, more chillaxin
Posted Monday, May 12, 2008, 5:01:43 PMIN AN ABSOLUT WORLD PEOPLE WOULD HAVE MORE FUN WORKING
You know what they say about all work and no play… it makes Jack a dull boy. Yet laborers worldwide are still logging 40+ hours a week. In the countries where people are toiling away the longest hours—South Korea and Japan—there’s even a term for death by work (Karoshi).
So Lizette-Morazzani’s vision of people having more fun, working fewer hours, and getting extra time to relax is a great idea. But how would we realize it? A global movement? Start a “work less” day? An instructional video or manual to show people how to be more productive in less time?
Perhaps the mandatory 35-hour workweek in France could serve as a model, but we’d need a plan consider realizing this vision.
