Q&A with Zach Galifianakis

You just turned 38 (October 1). What are your thoughts on aging?
I feel like walking in front of train more and more. Not that I will. I feel that I am getting smarter.

You’re a Libra. What does this mean to you?
Balance is key to being a Libra. Which for me translates into living your life in contradiction really. Perhaps that is why I like to chew tobacco while listening to Chopin.

You’ve been doing standup for how many years?
About 12 years.

What was your best/worst experience doing standup?
Well it’s a desperate art form when you first start. Which means taking gigs on a boat that is circling Manhattan with nothing but jerkoff teenagers on board- and having to step over them to get to
the stage because they are all making out on the floor. The amount
of hormones floating around on deck got in the way of my delivery.
Actually, that was one of the better experiences.

What’s the funniest thing you’ve ever seen?
The current administration that inhabits the White House.

Your video has a LA/Miami swingers vibe to it. How do you feel about swingers?
I don't know any swingers- except my great grandparents but they
never talk about it.

You say you’re the only one wearing a big wig in the video? Why’s that?
To distract viewers from looking at my weak ankles.

How did growing up in North Carolina influence your sense of humor?
When you grow up among some unruly rednecks you tend to devise
a device to get you out of trouble. Since my Numchucks class didn’t pay off- I used my sense of humor. My family is quite funny so that helps as well.

What’s the dumbest thing you’ve ever done?
My fingers are going to get very tired if I try to list all the dumb
things I’ve ever done and my mind will go into a spiral of
depression if I try to recount the very dumbest thing.

What do you think of pickup lines?
Well, I will tell you one that does not work. "You look like a more
feminine Dog than The Bounty Hunter."
